Hi guys! I need some help here…
I’m fascinated with this plug-in, and I installed it some weeks ago. It has been working perfectly untill yesterday.

I was creating a new slider and adding some pictures. When i saved it, the page didn’t load anymore. The page i used that slide didn’t load either, but other pages with other slides did work as good as usual.

Now, I can’t go to Meta slider settings, to edit or delete that slide that caused trouble. It takes so long to load, and I get the message on the topic, and sometimes it says “you have no permission to modify”

I checked LAN configurations and it’s ok.

I updated it, but still the same problem. I disabled it, and re-enabled it, but still the same.

    So please help me.

    The preview works: Yes
    Meta Slider version: 2.1.4

  • Hi Tita Sofia,

Try going to the Media tab (slides are just attachments) and try and find the slides for the new slideshow in there, and delete them one by one until Meta Slider starts working again. Make a note of the slide that was causing the issue and see if there’s anything different about it and let me know.

    Regards,
    Tom.

I can see all the pictures that work on other sliders, but can’t see the pictures on the troubled one.

ok, now I’m able to get into Meta slider’s settings… i erased some pictures I had on my site that wasn’t using, and it loaded.

But what will happen while my site keeps growing, and adding more pictures? i won’t be able tu use this plug-in anymore??

    Hi Tita,

How many slides are you adding to a single slideshow? Was there anything special about the images that you removed? (Eg, were they in an odd format, or is the file size huge etc)

In theory there shouldn’t be a limit, on metaslider.com we have about 20 slideshows set up.

    Tom.

I usually add less than 10 pictures to a slider, but that one that cause trouble had 40.

I noticed that the images were kinda huge, more than 1000 pixels each.

    Thanks for the help Tom.

    Hi Tita,

40 images is quite a few.. especially if you change the slideshow size. Your server will be trying to crop/resize 40 images in one go. You would probably need to optimise your server if you’re looking to use slideshows with that many slides in, at those sizes.

The images are only cropped/resized once, so as a workaround try uploading say 10 images at a time, then hitting save and preview, the moving on to the next 10 images.

    Tom.

    Thanks for the advise Tom.

Can i ask you a question? Is there a way that Meta Slider shows me the pictures without cropping them? but show ’em fully?

Setting the slideshow size to the exact same size as your images is the best way. If your slides are the same width, but different heights, then try setting the height to 0 (this isn’t actually by design, it’s just a happy accident that it seems to work)

    Tom.

but I want them to show, for example, width=500px, but I want to see the whole picture, as a thumb if you wanna name it that way… I don’t want slide to crop it…

I ment redimension the pictures instead of crop them

I tried setting height to 0, but it showed the slider with a height of 100 px aprox, so it doesn’t work either.

    Hi Tita,

The only sure fire way to do it is to set your slideshow size to the same size as your images. Meta Slider “wants” to make sure all of your slides are the same size, so it will scale down and crop images if the slideshow size is different to the image size.

    Tom.

    Hi Tom,
Thanks for answering… I understand that, but if I do it that way, I won’t be able to see the picture at its first size, so i’d have to upload every picture twice, one with the size of the slide, and the other one with its regular size.

It’ll be great if you could put that option “resize instead of crop”, at least in your pro version, because it’s the only thing that, at this time, keeps me from buyin it.

    Regards,
    Tita.
