WP Better Emails
Erroneous creation of hyperlinks (2 posts)

Thanks very much for your work on this plugin... a small bug:

I sent out an email with some FTP details in, including the line:

    Host: ftp.example.com

Note: After my original post, I had to edit the above line, because the WordPress forum was doing the very same thing as is reported below! Is it related? (i.e. Perhaps the bug is actually in WordPress core - some filter?)

WP Better Emails turned this line into this:

    Host: <a href="http://ftp.example.com" rel="nofollow">http://ftp.example.com</a>

Obviously whatever is detecting hyperlinks is too aggressive; in this example, it picked up an FTP hostname, and turned it into an HTTP-protocol link, which would be confusing for the recipient.

    Hi David,

The plugin is using a core function of WP to make links out of URL found in message.
You will find full details about it there : http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/make_clickable

I understand that it causes a wrong behavior in your case but this feature is useful in most cases and I can't remove it for specific needs. Maybe you could add the ftp protocol (which is supported by that function) to avoid confusion for recipient (e.g. ftp://).

    Hope it helps.
