Can anyone help me with this? Everything was working fine, but after making an edit to a post, my page won’t load. In the sidebar, I get the following:

    [Can’t create/write to file ‘/tmp/#sql_52d8_0.MYI’ (Errcode: 17)]
    SELECT DISTINCT link_category, cat_name, show_images, show_description, show_rating, show_updated, sort_order, sort_desc, list_limit FROM shownotes_links LEFT JOIN shownotes_linkcategories ON (link_category = cat_id) WHERE link_visible = ‘Y’ AND list_limit <> 0 ORDER BY cat_name

    Thanks!

  • Email your host. That is a database error.
It’s not a WP error, or caused by WP.

Just spent about 40 min on the phone w/them. They say the database is “working fine”.

What exactly needs to be done with the database? Their tech support guys say they need to know what the errcode: 17 is. BTW, the host is GoDaddy.

I’m on godaddy, and having the same problem, and am emailing them now.

Well, it’s nice to know I’m not alone! The tech support guy I talked to was pretty clueless about WordPress.

Sounds like someone changed the permissions on the /tmp folder and MySQL can’t write to it anymore…

Well, I’ve emailed my support rep at GoDaddy. We’ll see if this helps him any.

If anyone has any more specific help, I’d sure like to hear it here…

Mine seems to be working again? No reply from the email, though. Fingers crossed.

Mine is back too! Must’ve been GoDaddy’s problem. Great!

“Their tech support guys say they need to know what the errcode: 17 is.”

Is his JOB to KNOW what that is.
    Fire a complaint at godaddy.

Looking at this MySQL Reference Manual :: 15.16.2 Operating System Error Codes.

That error means that the file it is trying to write to (/tmp/#sql_52d8_0.MYI) already exists.

That is what the problem is – mysql is trying to create a temporary file to store the query results and failing.

Actually I got this problem too since a week. I’ve check around and the only thing I’ve found is other that have the same problem, and this thread 🙂

I’ve check that the file can be created, and have find one other user on my host having the same problem.

My site is flak.pdp10.org if someone want to have a look.

    Thanks for any suggestion!

Arg my sysadmin just fix it but he didn’t say to me yet what it was. So nevermind thanks anyway

I’ve got Errcode: 17, but everything on my Blog has disappeared! No answers here either…. anyone know of a fix yet?

All Errcodes – throw them straight at your host. They are the only people who can get in to where the errors are happening and sort them out.
Copy all error messages to them without delay.

anyone know of a fix yet?

There’s no fix as such as it’s a hosting issue which your webhost will have to resolve. There is nothing that we/you can do on this end. You’ll have to get them to investigate and chase them up about it.
