Custom Post Type UI
[resolved] Enabling orderby by custom taxonomy data on the archives page (4 posts)

We have a custom-post-type-ui created custom post type, (CPT) "Products" We then attached 9 custom-post-type-ui custom taxonomies to the "Products" CPT. For sorting purposes, the key taxonomies for this product are: 'brand', 'color', 'location', 'price' and 'year'. My goal is to allow for the user to sort (orderby) products of a specific category (via the archive page template) by the taxonomies I listed. However, I am unable to perform sorting against these taxonomies. It seems the WP team is against this as a design principal. If so, I'm unable to find an equivalent way to tag product items in a normalized way from within CPT. Much thanks for your attention.

As I stated, I believe the core issue is the original site designer's implementation of a flawed data model. The client was uninterested in a redesign, so the project closed without action.

Sorry to hear you couldn't provide a better internal experience for them. However, that happens sometimes.
