empty div in IE (2 posts)

    hi everyone... i am having a ruinous problem...

    on my blog, i have an "older posts" div and "newer posts" div, both contained in a "navgation" div...

    if there aren't newer posts, then the newer posts div isn't rendered, same for older posts...

    except that in IE, the older posts div IS rendered, though it doesn't say anything and isn't quite the same height...

    i've thought that a good way to work around this is to not call the "older posts" div if there aren't any older posts... this would probably work, but i can't figure out how to code the php...

    so i'm relying on a css fix...

    any help would be very very appreciated...

    here is a workaround i developed for "previous posts"...
    still need to figure out how to style "newer posts"

    please, someone!

    <?php
    	if (is_paged()) {
    	?>
        <div id="nav-below" class="navigation">
    				<div class="nav-previous"><?php next_posts_link(__( '<span class="meta-nav">&laquo;</span> Older posts', 'sandbox' )) ?>
                    </div>

                    <div class="nav-next"><?php previous_posts_link(__( 'Newer posts <span class="meta-nav">&raquo;</span>', 'sandbox' )) ?></div>
    	</div>
    <?php
    }
    elseif (is_front_page()) {
    	?>
        <div id="nav-below" class="navigation">
        <div class="nav-previous"><?php next_posts_link(__( '<span class="meta-nav">&laquo;</span> Older posts', 'sandbox' )) ?>
    			    </div>
                </div><?php } ?>
