I am trying to imbed a YouTube video into my blog, but there is a bit of a trick to what I am trying to do.

Basically, every YouTube video has a specific frame from the video that shows up as the default "thumbnail" for that video. What I'd like to do, is take a certain frame, at posiition 1:20 in the video, for example, and make it the thumbnail frame for the video.

Based on my research so far, I might not be able to do this via youtube. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

the solution is to download the .flv and use something like coolplayer or flowplayer to display it. The downside to that is that you get to use your own bandwidth hosting and playing the video - the upside is you get to pick the splash image.

thats a firefox extension for downloading flv files off you tube. i'm guessing it works for google video as well.

the easiest way to display .. well that depends.

I recently made my first little you tube-ish video. Im using flowplayer to display it on my blog.

    flowplayer home page:

    my blog example here:

I am not using a plugin .. flowplayer was very simple for me to figure out. However, I think this site has a plugin for it made:

    I guess there's also coolplayer:

I dont use that, never have, and there were posts here last week re: something about it being broke.

If you are comfortable NOT using a plugin, and end up using the stand alone flowplayer, its really not that hard, but if you need more help, holler back.
