Emails every two seconds

    I wiped out my old site and started from scratch with the new version of WordPress. Now I am receiving emails about every two minutes from what appears to be legitimate users. How do I stop the emails?

    – you may try plugins like Akismet, or Bad Behavior, etc.

    – you try blocking the IP in Admin – Discussion

    -you may also block IPs via .htaccess

    They come in as subscribers. The addresses look legit. The emails come from WordPress notifying me that they have subscribed.

    Ah. Okay, yeah.

    Bad Behavior definitely. Also if you DO NOT need open registration, turn it off.

    I have done that and it has worked. What do I do if I want open comments?

    Uncheck ‘Users must be logged in to comment’

    Check ‘Comment Author must fill in email and name’

    Install and configure Akismet and Cookies for Comments.
