Support » Installing WordPress » Emails and registeration not working after changing from Windows to Linux server

  • Hi all, I have a serious problem here and hopefully the folks here will be able to help me.

My website is hosted on GoDaddy, I just changed from a Windows server to a Linux one, and everything is working fine except 2 things.

    1. WordPress registration is not sending passwords to my readers and followers.

    2. My contact form (via a plugin) is not sending the messages to my designated email.

I am guessing this has got to do with the migration of Windows to Linux. My email is using Google Mail.

    Thanks.

  • It probably relates to the configuration of the new Linux server. See E-mailed_passwords_are_not_being_received.

My previous settings for SMTP host is already smtp.gmail.com, and the SMTP port is 465, the recommended port.

When I try to send a test mail via my SMTP plugin, it says “SMTP Error: Could not connect to SMTP host.”

Everything was fine just before the migration from Windows to Linux 🙁

From what I recall, some GD servers reject emails from non-domain-based addresses. Try asking GoDaddy about this directly.
