Email sent from blog? How?

    I’m wondering the process that WP goes through when it sends out an email notification for comments, or to email passwords to newly registered users.

    I’m wondering because it’s not working for me. What info does WP use to send out emails? What server? What account?

    Can anyone offer some help with this?
