Email notifications for WordPress.org forums

I’d love to see email notification options for the wordpress.org forums! RSS is a good start, but I’d like to get notified directly.

Both for individual threads, and also a watch for tags would be fantastic, so one could use the WP forums for plugin/theme support, and get notifications when users post questions.

Why would you need email notifications? Everything has RSS feeds. Tags included. Plugins get their own tag based on their name, which gives them an RSS feed as well.

Email notification is fairly old-school and not really particularly useful anymore. Too much spam, too difficult to disengage automated emails.

I understand if this isn’t something the WP folks are interested in though. We all have different visions.
