Hi Esmi
Appreciate that . The server with WP does not run CPanel. It is a linux server The server has no restrictions internally for communicating with the mail server
WP Server can ping and telnet to the mail server on port 25
Mail server can ping and see WP server.
I think the problem is that even though the admin email address is in WP, WP does not know where to send the mail and it is trying to send it via its own server which has no mail software on it. WHat it needs to do is send it to the mail server with a correct username and password for sending the mail (With authentication) and not try to send it itself as it of course would fail.
I need to find somehwere in wordpress where you can tell it how and where to send mail to.
The section under (Settings/Writing) is only for people wishing to post by email so that part is no good really.
Any ideas where I can tell WP how and where to send mails to?
Many thanks
Hi Guys
Has anyone got any ideas for a solution on this one yet.

I wonder why you need smtp of the mail server. WP can use php mail() function for it, unless you have selected use of smtp through the plugin which sends mail to the admin when a new post is published in a multi-author set up.
