email link in footer

    I’m probably missing something really basic & simple here, but I want to have an email link in my footer. I have a child theme and it has it’s own functions file. I know how to enter stuff in the footer this way, but I’m struggling with an active email link. Any tips, much appreciated

    I’m still struggling to customise the non-footer. I just write in my credits directly into the footer.php file in place of the stuff there. I haven’t tried making a link.

    But I cannot find a plugin that will provide a widget area for a proper footer, (every time I add code the functions php file as instructed to register a new widget area, the whole site shuts me out, so I have to use the backup from the host provider). I am not using FTP, just working directly to the host. I’ve hunted through endless code to try and had a subtle tinted background to the bottom footer area, but cannot find anything that will give it a bit of design. Can Konstatin please help with this?
