• When I click on the link in the subscribe confirmation email, it goes to a page-not-found Error 404. There does not appear to be anywhere to specify the page that the confirmation email should go to. We did specify a page under Subscribe2 > Settings > Appearance, which IS being shown when the person first enters their email address. However, this page is NOT appearing when a person clicks on the confirmation link in the email sent to them. Perhaps as a partial result, all the subscribers are shown in red under Subscribe2 > Subscribers, and are shown as unconfirmed.

  • @snowyn,

    Have you tried with a default WordPress theme and with other plugins disabled?

    Yes, I just tried using twenty eleven and other plugsin disabled. I still get page not found.

    @snowyn,

    Go to Settings->Permalinks and take a note of your chosen settings. Revert to default and then try again. If that works try going back to your preferred permalink structure and see if it works after this re-build.

    @mattyrob,

    Alas, I still get page not found with the default permalinks. Tried it twice, just in case I had not saved the default structure.

    @snowyn,

    That’s strange, I cannot reproduce this issue on my sites.

    Find a post ID number for one of your posts and try typing this into a browser replacing the things in brackets with what the text describes:

    http://(you-url.com)/?p=(the-id-number)

    @mattyrob,

    I can try this when I get back from New York. My father is dying; I will be away for … probably 7-10 days.

    I do have a thought. I’m wondering if I downloaded the correct “thingie”. I noticed there is both a widget and a plugin. I might have gotten the wrong one.

    And … from my client trying the subscribe process on another site using your plugin, she observed that the behavior there is: when email subscribe is clicked, one is taken to the home page. Then when clicking on the email confirm, one is taken to … whatever the “thank you” page is.

    On our site, when one clicks on the subscribe button, one is taken to the Subscribe2 specified “thank you” page instead of the home page.

    We don’t know which page the other site specified as the Subscribe2 page.

    I’ll get back in touch when I return.

    @mattyrob,

    I’m sorry to hear about you dad. Give me a shout again when you are ready and I’ll see if we can get this sorted.

    Hi, mattyrob-
    I’m the one with the Subscribe2 problem that Snowyn has been talking about. Since she’s dealing with her family issues, I said that I’ll take it from here. I’m not terribly savvy about this blogging stuff but I can probably get through it. Would it make sense for you to try to subscribe to my blog so you can see the problem for yourself when you click on the confirmation link since you said you can’t replicate it?

    @llkforms,

    Yes, knowing your site address would be a big help.

    @llkforms,

    You have created this page on your site to handle the subscription traffic for Subscribe2:
    http://joyofgtd.com/blog/thank-you-for-subscribing-to-my-blog

    Only it doesn’t look like you put the [subscribe2] shortcode on that page and it does need to be there. Try adding it to that page and see if that helps.

    Sorry, you lost me there. I don’t see how to do that. Do I need to edit the page source, the html? Because I can’t find it, I can only see it when I view the page source. I hired Snowyn to create my blog and unfortunately she’s out of commission until she gets back from NY and I don’t want to bother her asking questions during a time of family crisis.

    Or do I edit the page and put some sort of a link or something in the page (through the page editor in my wordpress dashboard)? And if so, what do I add?

    Sorry to be “bear of little brain” here, I’m just very new to wordpress. Thanks for all of your help.

    @llkforms,

    Log into WordPress and look for the Pages menu, you should find the page already exists in there. Edit that and add the shortcode to the content, the shortcode is [subscribe2].

    Okay, I think I did this right. I added [subscribe 2] to the content, then I made one other little change in the text to make sure that the update was saved.

    I tried subscribing again, got the new thank-you-page, and receive the confirmation email. Clicking on the link brought up the error 404 “Embarrasing” page. Here’s what the content of the page looks like:
    ———————————————-
    If you have confirmed a subscribe, you will receive an email notification whenever there is a new post. I promise not to share your contact information with anyone.

    If you have confirmed an unsubscribe, your subscription has been deleted.

    [subscribe2]
    ———————————————–
    What am I missing here? Thanks again for your help.

    @llkforms,

    It’s difficult to tell for sure from the front end of your site but the:

    http://joyofgtd.com/blog/thank-you-for-subscribing-to-my-blog

    page seems to be a WordPress post rather than a WordPress page.

    In the WordPress admin area go to Pages->All Pages and see if you have anything listed. Also go to Subscribe2->Settings and see if there is a red error message warning you that you have no pages.
