   How do I make one element (e.g, "no tags") disappear on one page template? It has no CSS selector. I do want it to remain on all other pages/posts.

   Pages don't have tags by default - only Posts do. Are you using a plugin to add tags to Pages?

   Good point. I hadn't thought of that. I have Simple Tags running, and tags for pages was turned on. (Turning it off still didn't fix it, though. Only eliminating the default text when it finds no tags did the trick.)
