   The New York Times has a comment section (see here for instance) http://community.nytimes.com/article/comments/2007/11/20/opinion/20tue1.html?s=4#

   that allows you to look at the comment threads in a number of ways. They have an 'editors selection' section (editor recommended comments), and readers recommendation section that allow people to skip over the less interesting stuff.

   In any high traffic comment thread this would seem to be a great idea. Is there any existing WP plugin that offers similar functionality, or can someone be inspired to replicate it?

   You might be able to do it using hidden tags in the comment text itself, or by adding fields to the wp-comments database perhaps?

   Any ideas?
