When using editor in visual mode and after pressing enter or shift+enter I get only empty lines in html and not <p></p> or <br />.
I think this started with wp update to 3.3.1. Also all existing line breaks all over the content were removed, it is quite annoying since I have to add them manually.
The solution was to install plugin tinymce advanced and enabling option Stop removing the <p> and tags, but I would really like to know why did this happen. Did anybody have same problem?

  • I have this problem but I have not and idea how to resolve it… Damn today I spent a lot of time to try insert < br > In spite I saved my draft anyway visual editor removed it!

    WP 3.4.1 Twenty Ten

When using HTML code, stay in HTML code!

There’s no way around this. WordPress insert <p> and
tags automatically so you don’t have to.

If you want more space between paragraph, then you change your css.

    Use Shift enter for
and hit shift for new paragraph.

When using HTML code, stay in HTML code!

Above works…when one switches to HTML editor AND THEN BACK to visual editor….code is ‘decided’ by WP….very, very, poor implementation….poor design

WordPress doesnt add any <p> tags to my content whatsoever.

I can add them manually in the HTML and then they will be saved to db, and output in the source on the front end, however any use of the visual editor wipes out all <p> tags.

I cannot expect the client to learn and write HTML code in order to update their content.

So far, I’ve found WordPress to be very buggy for something so popular.
