Hi I'm pretty new to wordpress and I dont really know very much about writing code or anything (so this has been pretty difficult for me). Most of what I am doing I found online. I am using the elegant grunge theme and I am trying to put an advertisement after the first post. I used the information on this website, http://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/adsense/, however after I edited the code nothing showed up on my blog. I also tried adjusting the width of the columns on my page but I can't seem to get that to work either. Can someone please help me?

    Thanks!

WordPress uses more than one template, so it is possible that the page you are on is not index.php. What you can do to test this is add something like <?php echo 'HELLO!!!!'; ?> right at the top of the page, reload it, and then if the text doesn't appear, you know you are editing the wrong template.

Also, where are you editing? Local or server? Is it possible you have edited locally and not copied it across to the server?

I was editing in the wordpress editor. Should I be editing on the server?

No, that should be fine - wasn't sure if you used an external text editor (Which are much better, much easier to read!)
