I am very new at this so excuse me if the answer of this is obvious.

A few days ago, I installed WordPress on my MediaTemple account to begin creeating my website. After a short period of time, I discovered that my website was publicly visiable, and unaware of how to change this, I just deleted WordPress off of my account and hoped it would delete my website with it. This worked.

However, now when I try to install WordPress, it alerts me with the following statement:

” To allow use of this page to automatically repair database problems, please add the following line to your wp-config.php file. Once this line is added to your config, reload this page.
    define(‘WP_ALLOW_REPAIR’, true); “

I am a bit lost. I have no idea what a wp-config.php file is, or how to edit it. Because the WordPress account that I used before is deleted, is there any way I can still access my wp-config.php file? Thank you.

  • Hi Hannah,

If you deleted all your files and would like to start with a fresh installation of WordPress, did you also clear out your database?

CAREFULL! Deleting the database will clear any content you had in your blog! If there’s any information you wanted to keep, make sure you make a backup first!

    Hope that helps!

When I deleted WordPress, I went to MediaTemple and clicked “delete” on my 1-click application of WordPress. I’m starting to believe that was the wrong desicion. If I want to go back and clear out my database is this still possible?
    Thanks.

Sorry, I didn’t consider the one-click option… I would suggest opening a support ticket with MediaTemple! I host most of my WordPress websites with them too and they are very helpful!

Maybe something was left over from the one-click installation and preventing you for reinstalling properly? I would ask MT to make sure everything is clear, and then maybe try to install without the one-click. It’s a little more complicated, but with patience and the forums, you should be ok! You’ll need to know how to use an FTP client, and how to create a database within MT.

Definitely check out this page and all other support docs, they will help!
