I started a thread in the “Your WordPress – Strut your stuff” forum but the thread is now competing with my homepage in the search results which isn’t good.

Is there anyway that I can edit the hyperlink in that thread from three weeks ago (so I could change the hyperlink text to “here” instead of my website name). If not that then maybe delete the thread all-together?

  • it is general forum policy not to edit or delete any forum posts unless in extreme circumstances.

promoting your own site and getting found by search engines is not one of them.

    Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I was not looking to promote my website here, I wanted advice and feedback from the WordPress community which I think is good.

I agree that it is not beneficial to delete posts, that’s not what I want. I want to change the name of the link (to something like ‘website’ or ‘here’ instead of my homepage title so it stops outranking my own website in the search results. I was unaware that this would happen and I am fairly new to WordPress and SEO…

The thread I am referring to is located here: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/laptop-deals-website-v10?replies=3

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

    Sincerely,

    Andrew
