edit link category slug functionality missing

Have I lost my mind?
There is no “edit link category slug” functionality as described and shown here:
http://codex.wordpress.org/Links_Link_Categories_SubPanel#Edit_Link_CategoryI can change the name of the link category, but the slug remains its (apparently) auto-created self, with no interface element to edit it.
Separate question: Does the link category slug serve any purpose whatsoever, other than to be annoyingly mismatched to its edited-name counterpart?
