   I have never seen this problem in version 2.7, but immediately after upgrading to 2.8, when I went to add a new post I found the edit icons missing. Since upgrading to 2.8.1, sometimes they are present, sometimes they are not.

   The problem can be seen here ...

   I have tried 2 of our sites which are on 2.8.1 and they both have the same problem. The sites still on 2.7 do not have this problem.

   Any thoughts gratefully appreciated. The "Disable the visual editor when writing" is NOT ticked on any of the sites.

   threechatons, you can find the solution in this thread. I tried it and it worked for me.

   cooper13 - thanks very much. My original forum search for "editor icon missing" did not find that thread.

   Looks like the problem is sorted now.
