Edit Flow editorial metadata and Assigment Desk pitch forms (11 posts)

    Hi

I'm using Edit Flow and Assignment Desk and am having some niggling problems. Since I updated to Edit Flow version 0.6.1 my custom editorial metadata is no longer available in the pitch form. I've activated and deactivated and deleted everything multiple times, including both plugins. I've tried everything short of reinstalling WordPress from scratch, but I can't fix the problem. The pitch form consistently shows only the default Assignment Desk fields.

I am also having issues with assignment statuses going haywire (no matter which status I set as default for pitches, Asssignment Desk assigns a different one), but that's a lesser problem at this point.

    Hey Megan,
The first problem, where only the default Assignment Desk fields show up, is actually a problem I just figured out last night. I should have a fix released later today if you can wait. Otherwise, the changes are identified here.

Could you explain the second problem in greater detail?

    Thanks,

    Daniel

Daniel, thanks for this. I can wait for the fix, I'm a bit leery of editing actual code.

The second problem is with Assignment Desk, not Edit Flow - I'm not sure if that's your remit as well, or if I should start a different thread. I want to use my own assignment statuses, not for the posts, but for the pitches. I'm actually using WordPress in a student site, so my requirements are not the standard news organisation ones. What I want is to have a pitch come in as 'New', be 'Approved' or 'Rejected', then marked as 'Complete' when the story is actually posted. I've created these statuses in Assignment Statuses, and then in the main Assignment Desk settings page, chosen New as my default Assignment Status. When the pitches come in, they uniformly get marked as something else, or sometimes as nothing at all. It's not consistent, that I can tell.

I'm not using Custom Post statuses in Edit Flow because I don't really need them. I have them disabled: I'm not sure if that's part of the issue. I admit to being slightly confused about how the two kinds of status interact - I'm assuming they don't.

Once again, thanks for the prompt reply.

    Hey Megan,
I'll test this to see if I can duplicate and respond in this thread.

    Thanks,

    Daniel

    Hey Megan,
I wasn't able to duplicate your second issue. I've updated Assignment Desk to v0.9.3. Can you try upgrading and seeing if the issue persists?

    Thanks much,

    Daniel

Sorry about the delay, I've had some other things to deal with. THanks for fixing the first problem.

The second one persists, though. I have five custom assignment statuses, Story idea, Approved, Rejected, On Hold and Complete. I am not using custom post statuses.

If I set the default Assignment status to Story Idea, Approved, On Hold or Completed, the pitch is accepted but no Assignment Status is assigned. If I set the default Assignment status to Rejected, the pitch is accepted, but the assignment status is set to On Hold.

I've been having variations of this problem since before the upgrades, although the specifics of exactly which statuses as default gets which status actually assigned vary as I create and deleted statuses to try to solve the problem.

I'm on the latest versions of WordPress and the only plugins are Assignment Desk and Edit Flow. I'm using the Arras Theme.

    Hey Megan,
Apologies for the delay. I finally had a moment to test this and was able to confirm your bug. I'll put together a fix shortly.

    Thanks,

    Daniel

It's me again. I found a new problem - sorry.

If you try to bulk edit posts or story pitches, in post view, the editorial metadata gets deleted.

I'm starting to think I should just volunteer to be your QA tester. Or offer to send you guys homemade cookies or something.

    Hey Megan,
I've identified the first bug but haven't yet been able to fix it. Do you mind starting a new thread for the second, and explaining clearly what you were doing and what the intended outcome was? I think it may be an Edit Flow but, not Assignment Desk.

    Thanks,

    Daniel

    Hey Megan,
Mo identified the source of the bulk editing bug in Edit Flow, fixed it, and we tagged v0.6.2 today. Please upgrade when you have a moment and let me know whether it's resolved for you!

    Thanks,

    Daniel
