   Is it possible to edit an xml file via the theme editor or any part of the admin panel?
   or only .php file and .css file can be edited through theme editor?

   Its an xml file for a photo gallery, i uploaded it inside my theme folder, change the permissions but seems that I cannot find a link on it to edit the code.
   I uploaded a .php file inside my theme folder and I can edit it.

   In WP 2.8, you can edit an xml file through the plugin editor. Probably not the best solution but it works.
