You can try OLD method. See if that helps.

Saw that reccomended on another post. Already tried that and it didn’t do anything. It’s the fact that it works on some and not on others with the same setup that has me stumped. Any other thoughts?

Archive pages have been split in several sections:
    – Author
    – Category
    – Tag
    – Custom Post Type
    – Archive (basically all not fitting in above)

Does that shine some light maybe?

not really. the site is a teacher page which requires password login to get to the content for each teacher. I’ve also created custom menus for each teacher, based on the content each of them request, which is what I need to restrict. the menus need to only show up on each teachers’ pages, after the login. I’ve set up each widget the same way, with the same settings (also reset and started over a couple of times) and I’ve got 3 out of 8 not working, but only on the post archive page… they work on the main page and the individual post page, but not in the list of posts (archive) page. any other ideas? thanks a ton for the quick responses and effort.

It looks like the theme is not reporting it’s in an archive there. Or maybe it has to do something with the password. I recall an earlier problem quite a while ago which turned out to be related to the password protection. Unfortunately I can’t recall the solution.

To be sure, I’ll do a test in my dev environment to see if DW does see an archive in the post archive.

okay, did a little house cleaning. not sure if this helps, but I removed the plugin completely and reinstalled… looks like some of the settings aren’t being overwritten, because most of what I had already assigned to the widgets just repopulated itself automatically (didn’t have to go in and reconfigure widgets, they were already set to what I had before I removed the plugin) that might explain why new rules aren’t being recognized? I’ve got everything working on all the pages, except for the archive pages on 6 of the 8 categories… your turn 🙂

Have you done some manual upgrades of DW? And not deactivating – ractivating it? Some updates, most database related are only triggered when doing such a cycle. That’s actually also why you haven’t lost the rules. Rules are saved in a separate database table.

I assume you’re using the Category section for those category archive pages? And please correct me if I’m wrong, some category archives do work?

I’ve uninstalled (deleted) and re-uploaded the plugin. only thing I’ve changed is settings for each widget. set all features to no, then set yes for each specific page (this works) single post (this works) category & archive (not sure if these are viewed the same way, but nothing shows up on the sidebar when all the posts for a specified category are listed)

you are correct. 2 of 8 category archives work just fine… that’s what has me stumped.

    now, back to you 🙂

here’s a link to one of the non-working pages, followed by one of the working pages. if you click the “news” menu link in the right hand side, you see the same menu in the one that works, but nothing in the one that doesn’t. the menu shows up in the individual post of each page, however.

Apologies for the late reply. I’ve been traveling. However, while I was traveling I’ve done some testing, but all tests I’ve done with category archives worked fine. So, I actually have no idea what is going wrong here.

Are you not using any other category plugin or a language plugin?
