Duplicate Theme Folders (first letter capital) after upgrade (1 post)

    Hi All,

I have been creating a new site using Maya Theme and recently upgraded the theme.

I was not aware of child themes when I started and so i did not create one at the start. However I had not made any changes to the style sheet directly so I thought it would be OK to upgrade. I do plan on changing the theme to a child theme before I go live but haven't got around to it yet.

The upgrade seemed to work well until i noticed that i no longer had the option to change the Page Template in the Page Attributes. (I have installed a few plugins before i noticed this option missing so not sure if this has an affect also)

So after a bit of research i read that switching between themes should fix this issue. So i switched to Twenty eleven and then when i tried to switch back i kept getting errors about function.php not existing in the maya/core directory. So i searched and found that somehow i have ended up with a "maya" directory and a "Maya" (note capital letter on second folder) directory under theme directory and only the "maya" folder contained a core folder. So i copied this across to the "Maya" folder and things seem to be working again.

So.... sorry if i have done something really stupid here as i am teaching myself all of this as i go along but i am worried about having the 2 folders now and would like to clean things up and then convert my theme to a child theme.

Can anyone advise if there is a way to consolidate the 2 folders safely and then the best way to convert my theme to a child theme.

    Thanks in advance.
