I also has the similar problem and seek your help. My case is widget at the bottom-left of my webite. RSS Importer lists two for each post.
I am wondering if this is caused by the RSS Importer plugin setting or WPML translation plugin. This website is run in English and Japanese.

First of all, all posts have to have a unique permalink. Second, are you seeing duplicate posts in the feed items page. Third, make sure you are using 3.13. Fourth, if you are on a slow server, you might get duplicate posts because the server can’t make a connection to the database.. for more on this read this:

All posts have unique permalink, it is exactly the same in duplicates. I am not seeing duplicates in the RSS feed, only in autoposted items. Besides, the posts of WP sees duplicates while the AutoPost list of posted items does not see duplicates, it thinks there is only a single post. I upgraded to 3.13, hopefully that solves everything, I will report. The server is running UNIX cron, by the way, so there should not be a problem of concurrency.

ok..then as explained in the link I gave you, the problem is most likely your server is not making a connection to the database to see if there is a duplicate or not, thus it lets the duplicate through. That is the only explanation I can provide since the code is written explicitly to look for a permalink that matches the current permalink (if a match is found, then duplicate is not allowed to go into the database). There is not much more the plugin can do right now to alleviate this problem. In the future, we may put in another filter to see if the title is in the database.
If anyone is having an issue with just the widget showing double posts I had the same issue and the fix is simply to save all your settings and feeds, etc and then delete the plugin and reinstall it.
I have 4 sites running this plugin and somewhere during all the recent updates of WP and the plugin something got corrupted. A re-install worked wonders!
Just make sure to save all your settings and feeds and you will be fine.
Hint: take screen shots of everything and turn off the setting that deletes posts when deleting the plugin and you will be fine.
