duplicate post rewrite issue

I have a duplicate post name rewrite issue. Lets say that I have two posts with the same title, i.e. “New Cars”. The first post gets saved as “new-cars” and the second post gets saved as “new-cars-2”. (btw, using permalinks of /%category%/%postname%/)

The problem that I’m having is that when I follow the link to the second post, the “-2” is getting dropped off and it is showing the first post. I have been digging through the code trying to figure out where the “-2” gets dropped, but I have not been able to figure it out.

I am running Nginx and I have not been able to determine if this is an nginx issue or if it is a wordpress one.

Anybody have any ideas?
