Is there a reason why there has been zero action on the issue of the wordpress importer generating duplicate categories and generally being broken? There are tickets open in Trac but the issue still exists and has existed for several months.
What's going on? When will this be resolved?

I wonder if it's because the cat info for the parent isn't exactly, 100% the same... Which would really suck :/

Without any exception, every time I import an XML file, the multiple categories are just created automatically. When I delete any of these multiple categories for some reason posts disappears.
