duplicate ASP page to display record from database (3 posts)

I am new to WordPress and do not know PHP. I would like to duplicate a simple ASP page that reads a contact information record from a database and displays it on a webpage.

Here's a URL to the ASP page that calls out the MemberID and displays the record.

    http://www.imageofwisconsin.com/members.asp?MemberID=130

Does anyone know of a plugin that allows a person to build a page that reads a record or am I looking at custom programming?

Thanks for any help I can get on this.

Depends. If you want to read records that you already have, you're probably looking at custom programming.

If you're open to a membership directory type plugin, or business listing / directory plugin there are plenty out there. It would be good to outline your specific needs and then some suggestions could be made.

I'm looking to duplicate what I developed a few years ago using ASP technology. I would want to be able to import contact information records that I already have into the WordPress database. I assume that creation of the table with the appropriate contact information fields is possible with the WordPress database.

I only need to update the table maybe once or twice a year. I'm thinking it would be easiest to just delete all the records and re-import them when I need to update. Then mainly what I need is a page that will display an individual record just like this ASP page does.

    http://www.imageofwisconsin.com/members.asp?MemberID=130

Note that the URL simply passes the MemberID, in this case the MemberID is 130. The page reads the MemberID parm, looks up the record in the database, and displays it on the page.
