    Hello Friends,

I have spent a great of time searching & reading posts but I am still not really finding what I am after.

I am using my Child of Twentyten theme and want to make my menu into a drop down menu. I read a blurb stating that his can be accomplished somehow in the Dashboard in the [Show Advance Menu Properties].

Question one: Can this, (create a drop down menu) really be done somehow in this area? If so can someone please explain?

Question Two: If it cannot, can anyone point me in the direction of the easiest way I can create a dropdown menu?
My understanding is that even though this may seem trivial, it can be a nightmare.

Many thanks in advance to any and all who can assist. Very much appreciated.

What do you mean drop down menu, horizontal main menu or vertical sidebar menu?

First you create new menus in Admin > Appearance > Menus
To make them children you drag them to the right

    Then save the menu
    menu 1
    -child 1
    -child 2
    --child 2 1
    --child 2 2
    menu 2
    menu 3
    -child 3

    For the main menu
Assign a new menu to 'Theme Location' primary and save.

For sidebar menu Admin > Appearance > Widgets, drag a menu widget to the sidebar and select a menu, then you will get a menu in a sidebar list.

If you then want to style the sidebar menu!

    Hello Digital Raindrops,

Thank you very kindly for posting your reply. I truly appreciate the assistance. Also thank you for the link to your site.

You mentioned which menu I was referring to: It is the top horizontal main menu that I am wishing to add some dropdowns to. Please forgive my newness in this area, (creating dropdowns) but is there a way I adapt what you have suggested to the sidebar nav to the horizontal main menu bar?

Again many thanks for your help and your time. I sincerely appreciate it. My site again: http://naturallygiftedbaskets.com/wordpress/

The same applies to the horizontal menu, just assign a menu to the "theme location", or from the Admin > Pages > Pages "quick edit" and set the page parents.

Your theme modification might have turned off parts of the theme so it is just guessing!

    Hello again Digital Raindrops,

Thank you once again for your kindness and assistance. I think I have it now.

I noticed that on a test dropdown I did that the drop down tab was hanging far below the horizontal menu bar and therefore when I attempted to move my mouse over it, the drop menu disappeared. But I would imagine that this issue could probably be remedied by my going into the #access (menu) area of my child-style.css and massaging the CSS in there to tighten things up.

At least I would think that is where I would go to fine tune things.

    Many thanks again!
