Just to confirm, your theme’s vendors do not provide support for you?
I believe not. I am new to WordPress, and am looking for a solution to this problem.

Switch to a theme from here: http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/ as we don’t support commercial themes.
It turns out this is indeed a free theme, not one which we purchased.
Best to post here:
http://wordpress.org/support/theme/cell
But it doesn’t look like the developer is supporting it very well 🙁 .

Sorry, my mistake.
Install this Custom CSS Manager plugin and use its section of the dashboard to hold this:
.menu1 ul li:hover ul,
.menu1 ul li.sfHover ul {
top: 38px;
padding-top: 5px;
}
