Now the widget shows a number of custom post types. Would it not be a good idea to have a drop down menu?

I am not technically skilled in WP so I do not know if what I am askeing is simple or difficult. Plse let me know

Are you suggesting a drop down option instead of the multi select? The advantage to a multi select is you can select and thus display more than one post type.
