Dreamweaver to WordPress? (9 posts)

I have a site built in Dreamweaver (http://www.iphonesatwork.com) that I'm thinking of/hoping to convert to WordPress. Some elements I'm not sure about migrating are Spry tabbed panels (http://iphonesatwork.com/app_top_tens.html) Dreanweaver uses (Spry is Adobe's version of Ajax framework).

The Spry pages have a .js file and their own CSS file. Where would these go in the WordPress file directory?

    Thanks.

You can keep them anywhere you want as long as your code knows where to look.

I have a js file and separate CSS for a scroller and I keep it in a directory in the root.

I use DW to handle all code, html, css and php. Also use it for FTP (unless it is a large file). Makes it easier for me as it gives me a complete copy of the site on my local machine.

    Thanks.

I'm still learning the structure of WP. Plus I have limited knowledge of PHP (although I'm well-versed in HTML and CSS).

    - What file do I go to edit the width of the columns in a theme?
    - I'm presuming I go to header.php to add a new header image. Do you know what part of the file I would edit?

    Thanks again.

    Hi,

Dreamweaver provides tool for wordpress theme designing. Have a check with it. It will be useful to you.

    Thanks,

    Shane G,

You have me intrigued, what tools are you referring to?

Gee, and I just use the lowly NotePad to create all my WP and WPMU themes :-)

Found an Extension called ThemeDreamer ... One user comment said it didn't work with CS4 or WP 2.7+ -- which may be the case: developer site says, "Updated for the latest WordPress APIs (version 2.6.5)." (I've emailed the developer and asked for clarification.)

Also, Adobe lists it as $60, the developer as $29.95. Free download available.

Also ... Could someone take a shot at these:

    - What file do I go to edit the width of the columns in a theme?
    - I'm presuming I go to header.php to add a new header image. Do you know what part of the file I would edit?

    Thanks.

    style.css

yes, header.php and usually look for <div id="header"> .... </div> then style accordingly in style.css file
