Dreamweaver Template - How to incorporate WordPress (6 posts)

    Hi

I have seen a lot of posts on the integration of Dreamweaver and WordPress, however none of them seem to provide clear guidance (forgive me if I have missed one that does)

Basically my site is set up with a common template which is designed in Dreamweaver (.drv) and based on HTML and CSS style sheets.

I would like the WordPress Blog also to appear in the contents area in the same template, however I am not sure where to start. I understand that WP is based on PHP and it will not appear in a WYSIWYG application (ie Dreamweaver) however how you bring the two parts together is a mystery to me.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

    Thanks in advance
    T

    Hi srmarketing

    The website is at http://www.conversationsinspanish.com

The Blog can be accessed with http://conversationsinspanish.com/blog/

Until I get over this initial hurdle I don't want to start cusomising the layout etc.

    Thanks
    T

    Hey Tilo,

looked at your template source today... you are in great shape to converting to WordPress.

A while back I started writing a tutorial on this very subject and when i saw your post last night I felt compelled to finally complete it.

    You can find it at:

I sure hope this helps and if you have questions please post comments and I'll try and troubleshoot what I can.

    Cheers,

    Sammy

    Hey Tilo,
I know its been 9 months since your original post stating

I understand that WP is based on PHP and it will not appear in a WYSIWYG application (ie Dreamweaver) however how you bring the two parts together is a mystery to me.

Just wanted to let you know that there is an extension that you can use to open WordPress theme files in DW. A new updated version 0.2 has been released and it can make navigating WordPress template tags alot easier. Just click in the Design View or in Code View and DW's Property Inspector automatically points you to the documentation in http://codex.wordpress.org, not to mention give you a some WYSIWYG like CSS feedback in Design View (just an approximation, but essential for theme design).
