So I have been doing a lot of research on this issue as it has occurred on a blog I am running. I think I have looked at every single post on the internet (there were quite a few) and no suggestions worked. I will give a brief description of the issue, and then give all the steps I have tried to fix it.

I switched the wordpress site from Godaddy hosting to a VPS host. Everything is working fine, the switch was easy. There is only one problem, the visual editor vanishes, and at first it seemed random, but it actually wasn’t. The visual editor would be present when creating a NEW post, but when editing the draft, the visual editor tab would be there, but no buttons or frame to view the visual mode. I also used a tool to see if the module was present in the HTML, just not showing, and it wasnt. Also no JS errors, and no files missing when checking in firebug. Everything on the page is functioning perfectly, but no visual toolbar and visual frame. Again this ONLY happens when EDITING a draft.

The HTTPD and PHP error logs show NO errors when this is occurring.

    I have tried the following:
    – Updating wordpress to latest version (deleted wp-admin, wp-includes and got fresh directories)
    – Removing all plugins
    – Removing theme
    – Changing permissions of wp-content / wp-includes to 777 (from 755)
    – Increasing memory limit on PHP
    – Checked for JS errors, none
    – Checked for missing files in firebug, none
    – Tried installing TinyMCE plugin, this actually broke the visual editor EVERYWHERE when it was activated, not just in draft

Things still left to do as a last resort:
    – Reinstall wordpress see if issue is not there

Any ideas or suggestions? Please note that my browser does NOT have a cache to clear (cache is disabled), and this occurs in EVERY browser on ANY computer so it is NOT a local issue.
