• I am only able to see 3 themes in my admin site, plus the theme I am currently using. I have downloaded two themes, uploaded them to the site, and they are still not showing. (I downloaded them through the wordpress theme viewer site)

I downloaded them, extracted them to the correct folder, uploaded them to my site via FileZilla, and nothing.

    Am I missing a step?

Thanks for any and all help!

  • It doesn’t sound like you are missing anything.
Are you sure you uploaded them to wp-content/themes?

Positive. I actually re-uploaded it just to make sure.

I don’t understand why I wouldn’t see the themes in my admin panel unless I can only see a set number of them.. =/

make sure you didn’t get an extra level of directories when you unzipped the themes.

    Good:

    wp-content/themes/YourTheme/style.css

    Bad:

    wp-content/themes/YourTheme/YourTheme/style.css

Just checked – no double directories… I don’t get it! lol

    Hmmph.

Ok, file permissions? Compare the permissions on the the directory of the theme you can’t see to one you can see.

what are the names of the themes?

    Thread Starter roguerisa

    (@roguerisa)

    02-glass-full-of-water-11 and ileather-10

those are the two I downloaded. As far as permissions go, I’m not sure where to check that stuff, but I’ll look around and try to figure it out.

oke, well assuming you didnt change the name of the themes..

    http://www.wickedlycoolbean.com/wordpress/wp-content/themes/ileather-10/

ileather ought to be there — it’s not.

    additionally,

    http://www.wickedlycoolbean.com/wordpress/wp-content/themes/02-glass-full-of-water-11/

that ought to be there — its not πŸ™‚

Did you happen to rename the directories, because if you did not — you are not uploading themes to where you think are.

    (@roguerisa)

hmm.. I did it the same way as Ohmiya “GIN-san and Glow 3.0.

    how odd…

Trying again, just for fun. =)

    dont upload to WWW/

thats a symlink intended for the server’s use.

you need to be uploading to public_html/../../../… or httpdocs/…/…./… or whatever your hosts equivalent is.

    NOT WWW/…/…/….

    Thread Starter roguerisa

    (@roguerisa)

But I don’t even know where public_hml is, and I used the WWW thing for the other two themes that *did* work…

I said .. you use whatever the equivalent is ..

what do you see when you FIRST login to your site via ftp — what are the directory names?

Im not going to explain why the theme you uploaded “eventually” showed up for you — its beyond the scope of whats necessary here.

    Thread Starter roguerisa

    (@roguerisa)

They didn’t ‘eventually’ show up – it was automatic.

    But I see

a file with ‘…’ next to it
    one with ‘logs’
    and
    one with ‘wickedlycoolbean.com’

    and inside wickedlycoolbean.com?

    Thread Starter roguerisa

    (@roguerisa)

    another ‘…’ folder, along with:

    aspnet_client
    cgi-bin
    cp
    images
    webalizer
    wordpress
    and individual files

    Index.php
    index_b4_wordpress.html
    login.html

If you are looking for something specific, ask.
