    Hi there,

new update of WP brokes lof of plugins on my web page and unfortunately, they are really important for stable using of web.

My question: if is safe to downgrade back to 3.8.3 when it comes to database core files?
I don't want to mess something.

    Thank you

It goes without saying that you should backup files and database first, but I just downgraded back to 3.8.1 after an accidental upgrade, and whatever database changes were made for 3.9 did not seem to be fatal when the files were restored. The only problem I saw was a plugin that WP had deactivated, and it was fine once I reactivated it.

Hi, I have downloaded all my files via FTP. What files do I need to change before I re-install the files. I had a problem with 3.9 and wish to change back to older WordPress version

^^^ Ditto...How do we do that?

  6. 1. Download 3.8.3's zip.
    2. Unzip it.
    3. Copy the files over.

It's not perfect, but it'll work. And yes, I mean you need to copy ALL of the downloaded files over the ones on your server.

Ok if you want to revert

What you need is fresh copies of the old wordpress install files

You can find that here http://wordpress.org/download/release-archive/

YOU WANT TO KEEP YOUR wp-config.php file
Then you need to delete everything except your them folder and plugins.

Don't just copy over the files .. you should delete them and upload your fresh old copies of wordpress.

Then if it works you are fine.
If it causes database problems then you need to restore your old database from a backup.

To turn off automatic background updates
    http://codex.wordpress.org/Configuring_Automatic_Background_Updates

  10. DO NOT DELETE WP-CONTENT

    Yikes.

The easiest way is to just overlay the older files. Honestly, it works.
