  • I’ve been having grave issues with WP since yesterday, and I’m not exactly sure what is going on.

It started yesterday with the frontpage and the admin area spitting out parse errors. I hadn’t changed anything to cause that, so I asked my hosting company. They said there were all sorts of errors in the code I was using (which was the code I had my site running on for years already), and didn’t actually care to respond to my replies.

Well, to make a long story short, I had to delete each and every wordpress file, including the K2 theme files. I reuploaded everything and somehow managed to get the site up again.

But now I’ve got this problem with double apostrophes showing up in headlines. Which would be a nuisance, if I could actually remove them. But the thing is, I can’t even remove them. When I edit the headline, the posting still shows up the way it did before, only that all instances of apostrophes inside the entry’s actual text are duplicated as well.

I have already re-imported my database, but the double apostrophes just appeared in that one again.

I saw someone writing about this before (albeit not in this length), but he didn’t get any replies. So, anyone familiar with this problem? Even have a way to solve it? That would be grand.

Check out this post, in order to see what I mean.

  • The most common reason that code just suddenly goes wrong is because the host has moved files around – and screwed it up. It is usually their fault, though getting them to admit that is impossible. I would make plans to move hosts.

I see no double apostrophes though – and the link above 404’s

Sorry, as always I somehow managed to resolve the issue right after asking for help on here.

I just reuploaded the WordPress files once again, which resulted in the removal of the apostrophe weirdness. I don’t know what caused it, and I’m just glad it’s resolved.

The link 404s because I, by accident, posted that entry twice, and then had to rename that one I posted above.

Thanks for checking it out though!
