   I'm trying to follow the instruction here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Reading_Options_SubPanel#Front_Page

   but when I go to options > reading I don't see any option here for setting the front page, there are only options for number of blog posts to display and syndication feeds

   am I blind? has it been moved in 2.3, if so where? thanks in advance!

   Administration > Options > Reading is where it should be at 2.3 (it's been there since 2.1). What version does it show at the bottom of your Dashboard?

   it shows 2.3.1

   Do you have any Page created? As in going to Write > Write Page?

   You need another one - where your blogs will be displayed, I guess (never tested though this second scenario). It's worth giving a try.
