Hi,
I'm wondering what the domain preference should be - or benefit / difference in running a WordPress blog as a subdomain or subcategory.
For example: Our site is: http://refugemediaproject.org/
Is it better to run the wordpress blog on a subdomain: http://blog.refugemediaproject.org
OR
subcategory: http://refugemediaproject.org/blog
Does it make a difference in terms of analytics or SEO?
Thank You, David
It does not make difference how you use your domain name but once you have decided on the how you use you will need stick to it as each of examples above are different name for search engines

I understand that..
Considering we have a standard website at http://refugemediaproject.org/ - does this make a difference in analytics or tracking pages? Would I still need two different analytics / Webmaster tools for the sites?
Thanks, David
No you can track all pages just using your domain name.

Thanks govpatel,
I already have analytics on the website
If I use the subdomain for the wp blog- how would I add the sitemap with webmaster tools- would I redo the sitemap?
Also the Google analytics tracking would still have to read in wordpress somehow- my development site is already on the subdomain and there is no information on its traffic showing up in analytics..
Thanks, David
If you install another wordpress in a sub domain name then that is new website install so you will add your analytics and sitemap for that as well

Thanks.
What about if I need to install on a sub-directory. WordPress is on the subdirectory of a standard website with the sitemap and anlaytics already installed.
Thank You, David
As I said above no matter where you install wordpress a domain name subdomain name or directory they are all separate installs and for search engines they three different urls
