   I'm new to this and haven't downloaded WordPress yet.

   I'm planning on setting up the one-click install through hostgator. Would it be better to create the domain name w/ godaddy and link it to the hostgator account or just get one through hostgator?

   That is personal preference... I don't like GoDaddy's user-interface in their domain store, not that fond of Hostgator's either - but it really is personal preference.

   Consider this: if you register your domain name with the company that hosts you website, you only have one place to call if there is ever a problem. If the domain name is registered with company 'A' and hosted by company 'B', you get the left and right hands pointing at each other if a problem ever occurs.

   Thanks for all the replies. Yes, good point Dave. I just have a good vibe about switching my godaddy domain over to hostgator.

   That why I also don't have to worry about messing around with complicated settings.
