    HI

Well with a bit of effort and luck and some very, very thorough WP guides I managed to get the new WP 3.01 multisite up and running. Also managed to get a parked domain functioning on it.

Now maybe I missed something along the way as far as getting the parked domains url to be used.

So: parkeddomain.com is forwarding to parkeddomain.rootdomain.com which is its subdomain directory on the WP install.

Is there any way so that the urls displayed and/or used on the WP subdomain are actually parkeddomain.com ?

    parkedomain.com/post#
    instead of
    parkeddomain.rootdomain.com/post#

    ??

    Gord

Just to clarify, where did you install WordPress - at root http://example.com or in subdomain as in http://wordpress.example.com/?

Check Step 3 and Step 4 here http://ottopress.com/2010/wordpress-3-0-multisite-domain-mapping-tutorial/

WordPress is installed in the root. All the subdomain functions are working fine. Would just like the parked domain to use its own url instead of the subdomain's.

    1. Make sure you have a dedicated IP address
    2. Did you follow step 3 and step 4 in the link I pointed to?
    3. Did you point new domain name DNS to root/IP address?
    4. After that, did you go to the backend of the subdomain site you want the new domain to point to and used Tools > Domain Mapping put in a new domain and set it as the primary?

Hey Fantastic and many thanks. Some how I missed that last little step using the WordPress documentation setting it as the primary.

Your tutorial is actually much clearer and easier to understand.

    Again thanks.
