[resolved] Domain Mapping: Domains Setting - empty of entries (6 posts)

    Hello:

I have set up and tested Multiuser with WordPress 3.2.1 on a Hostgator shared account. My test (testblog.domain.com) tests ok, but I cannot get a second domain (second.com) to resolve to a WordPress site.

The site (second.com) was configured on the server as both a Hostgator 'Addon' and a 'Subdomain', and had some standard html (ie was a working website, not WP). I removed these settings in Cpanel, and made it a 'Parked' domain instead. I used 'subdomain' rather than 'directory' to set up the WP network, as this site was setup on the host as a subdomain.

The issue may well rest on the Hostgator setup, but I wanted to ask a couple of things here before persuing the fix over there:

    1) When logged in as 'Network Admin', if I go to: 'Sites' both my primary domain (domain.com) and the 2nd one (second.com) appear. I have tried going to 'edit' and then changing the domain to both 'second.domain.com' and back to 'second.com'. I could use some guidance on what is correct here.

    2) if I go to: 'Settings' and then 'Domains', I get a WP settings page called:'Domain Mapping: Domains'. This has fields for

    New Domain

    Site ID
    Domain
    Primary

Is the site ID the same as the 'Domain' referred to above (in question 1)?

Also, no matter what I do on this page, I get no entries - it always looks the same, with fields, but no data. If I do a 'Search' even for my primary domain (domain.com) nothing happens. If I add a new domain here, it does not appear after I hit 'save'. Should it not appear?

Any input into this is much appreciated by this WP noob.

    Regards,

I should say that the page resolves correctly, to a WP home page when I use the URL: second.domain.com. I just need it to work with the URL: second.com.

Which plugin are you using for domain mapping?

I used: WordPress MU Domain Mapping, thanks for asking. I read the suggested page by otto as well...

Also: when I use the URL: second.com, it (now) resolves to domain.com, where I have the domain.com WP site (there was some dns latency before this started to work).

When I use the URL second.domain.com, I get the WP page for what I want to get with 'second.com...'

Fixed - the domain mapping works fine when I set it from within the site itself. So simple...

I appreciate the input, it got me thinking in the right direction.
