   So, I've setup MU on a site, point A records of the domains to my server's IP address since the domains are hosted elsewhere and MU works like a charm, the domain mapping plugin works great as well, I can now visit my domains at example.com and see their new wordpress install in MU.

   The problem I'm having is that I have some legit Domain Aliases on my server that no longer work since wordpress mu is redirecting them to be subdomains when you visit the url. For example, I want alias.com to reflect all the content on my main example.com site but keep the URL as alias.com while it does it (just like an alias should), however, when visiting alias.com I'm redirecting to alias.example.com.

   Is there no way to keep my domain aliases while running MU and the Domain Mapping plugin? I have a Plesk control panel and am at a lost as to how to fix this problem. Any help is greatly appreciated!

   Thanks for your reply, is there any solution to this yet? I've not found any but it looks like you've been working with this issue a bit longer than me. If there's no way to solve it yet then let me know that as well.

   Well, I might mention I did have one idea for a work around but it's not ideal by any means. Run the domains as addon domains instead of domain aliases and then use Domain Masking through an iframe (hence the not ideal warning) to redirect to and display the main site. I've not successfully tested it but in theory sounds like it should work.

   It's been done to death: http://wordpress.org/tags/plesk

   Basically you have to put the NAMED domain aliases ABOVE the wildcard.

   this:

   To avoid conflict with your actual subdomain names
   Go to Super Admin > Options - Registration Settings - Banned Names = names of actual subdomains
   e.g. if you have actual subdomain sites at site23.yoursite.com, site24.yoursite.com and site25.yoursite.com, include site23 site24 and site25 in list of Banned Names

   and this:

   ... and tell your host to put the "real" subdomain records above the wildcard record. So apache will look up existing ones first, then use the wildcard if it can't find it.

   If you can make the add-on domain point to your wordpress folder, then you don't need to do any redirecting or anything else. Just let domain mapping happen.

   You can't (by default at least) map the addon domain to a chosen folder in Plesk unfortunately.
