• Doesnt the “PAGE” contenttype use the CATEGORIES/TAGS system of the POST?

Or is it just a theme thing? AM using the Chameleon theme

  • Are you referring to Content-Type or something else?

Bagel … the poster is just talking about what type of content it is … a post or a page. And pages do not use categories by default. However – there are plugins if you search for them that allow you to do this.

well no, the two default WP contenttypes are PAGE and POST, not the extension/mime thingies !!

COz i cannot “categorise” or tag my “static” pages, I realise the PAGE are listed on the MAIN horizontal menu and you can have parent/daughter.

But no categorising or tagging of the PAGE?

    expat … something like this

    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/ninja-page-categories-and-tags/

there might be a better one .. not sure if this one still works it hasn’t been updated in awhile

    On the same track here,

    1. there is no linkback to the parent PAGE from the daughter page or vice versa? thats just a menu thing?

    2. does the “sticky” function work only on posts and depending on themes on the frontpage or does it work on a listing page to make it stick on top of the list?

    Hey thanks for that plugin:

So see if i have it right?

    1. I cannot get a quick list of pages unless i build another listpage in the theme?

    2. there is order # function of the pages but not of posts?

you can create a category page that pulls only pages with the category you specify.
you can use something like this to do that
    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/list-category-posts/

i am not sure if you can specify order with this particular plugin but if not if you edit your publish dates to reflect the order you want them to appear that usually works

    thanks for your help…

FYI that plugin only lists posts NOT pages !! but still useful

Have you tried it after installing the ninja plugin? If it doesn’t work and you can’t find another similar plugin that does if you can code a little you can go into the template files to grab only the categories you want

the ninja plugin works, but needs updating since

    1. doesnt update the extra numbers in the categories/tags

    2. doesnt list the categories and tags on the listing page, so how do i add them in the themes??

    3. doesnt use the order numbering

    4. that last plugins has the start of a very good “similar posts/pages” plugin….do u have a recommendation? πŸ™‚

    thanks again

    1. doesnt update the extra numbers in the categories/tags

What numbers? Are you talking about the URLs? (If so you should be using Search Engine Friendly Permalinks that consist of words and dates)

    2. doesnt list the categories and tags on the listing page, so how do i add them in the themes??

Not sure exactly what the listing page is …

    3. doesnt use the order numbering
That can be fixed by editing the publish date … it orders them chronologically

    4. that last plugins has the start of a very good “similar posts/pages” plugin….do u have a recommendation? πŸ™‚

I am sure there is something that will pull all posts/pages from a specific category. Remember that you can assign more than one category to a page
    thanks again

    oops .. double post
    edited to remove

    1. doesnt update the extra numbers in the categories/tags

categories have numbers of pages and posts it contains, the widget only list the numbers of posts and not include the new pages.

    2. Listing pages are really categories/tags/archive pages

oh ok … thanks for clarifying. If you are comfortable editing the template files for your theme you should be able to make the customizations you want.
