All it does is restores a gray background with black typeface. Doesn’t go back to the old typeface, doesn’t have gray gradients, spaces between blocks, doesn’t restore 3D look and still has that shadow-disappearing text when you type into a text box

  • Doesn’t sound like it’s running right for you. It does all the things you said it doesn’t do for me. They even gave us the “blue” theme back. If you go to users and click Edit, under you. At the bottom you can select grey or blue. I like blue – and when I use it the 3D look is there and it looks exactly as it did before. Same with the grey.

I know its stupid question but have you activated the plugin?

I guess it might be some sort of conflict with other plugins/themes you have installed or smth, there is close to 1000 downloads and you’re the first one to complain about it. Try disabling other plugins one by one and check if thats the case.

Yes I have activated it and I can tell because it changed the background color, but nothing else. There are little lines between some of the blocks but that’s about it. There’s no 3D shadowing under them, the typeface has NOT changed (the old one was a serif font; the new one is sans-serif), the little icons for ‘post’, ‘appearance’ etc are not restored to their old ones (e.g. ‘Posts’ is now a flat grey pushpin, before it had multiple colors and a shadow), the space between lines of text is still bigger, requiring more scrolling to get to the bottom whereas before more text/lines fit on a page, etc etc etc

I think you think changing the background to the original shades of grey means it has restored the original appearance.

I retract that. Both typefaces are sans serif, however the new one is much thinner and bigger and takes up a lot more space. All the other differences stand.

The old typeface was Aktiv Grotesk the new one is a type of Open Sans (possibly light)

Just discovered the first main problem besides the appearance, with this plugin. It messes up the Widget interface and makes it unusable. It puts the text into a column about 10 characters wide and all the text overlaps.

Just found the first huge problem with this plugin (wp admin classic the one that changes the background back to grey and typeface to black but no other changes) besides the calendar problem. It completely messes up the Widget function. When I click on widgets there are little boxes in one very narrow column and all the text down one side, about 10 characters wide, all overlapping. Needless to say I can’t make any changes to Widgets once I’ve installed the plugin to make 3.8 look as if it’s still the old one (which is barely does anyway).

When I remove the WP Admin classic plugin and go back, the Widgets are all displayed in two long vertical columns that I have to scroll down to see all of them, instead of having them go all across the page and be able to see them all at once. It is impossible to see them all which is necessary to do in order to find and choose which one I might want to add, or delete. This makes it really, really, really, hard to work with widgets.

Plus it is really difficult to impossible to grab a widget from the bottom and push it to the top to try and drag and drop it, because you can’t scroll when you’re holding down the mouse button.

Please delete the last two posts, I put them in the wrong forum. Sorry.

One screenshot probably would explained things better, but as mentioned earlier, you’re the only one with such problem and I can’t fix something that I don’t see or reproduce.

There are quite a few other plugins that change the way admin ui looks (though not sure if there is another that would do exact the same thing as this one) so you can try them out if this one is not working and you not satisfied with new WP Admin theme.

    Thanks

How does one attach a screenshot?

Does it change back to the old typeface? If so what is the name of it?

You can’t attach screenshots but you can create an image link with a service like http://snag.gy/ and paste the link to that screenshot.
