Does this exist…?

first let me just say i am way brand new to wordpress… we have a friend who is rebuilding our site and has introduced us to it, so i apologize in advance if this comes off as a dumb question…

our needs are this: we are a nonprofit that raises funds in the equestrian industry to fund projects in third world countries. we have rider “ambassadors” who raise awareness and funds while competing and through their individual networks. our current webpage is a bit of a mess – but we have an ambassador page that lists/displays their photo and name, which then clicks through to their individual “profile” page.

right now we have over 400 ambassadors from all over the world, and are continuing to grow. we’d like to make use of a plug-in that will allow us to still display the list of ambassadors, but we really need to have the ability for ambassadors to create their own profile pages.

i am in the very beginning stages of researching different plug ins, and have come across buddypress and wishlist member… but i’m not entirely sure they will satisfy our needs – we don’t necessarily need something hugely complex (with forums, groups, etc.).

any ideas?
