Does Jetpack's Comments Subscribe use a host's email resources?

If you use Mark Jacquith's Subscribe to Comments your hosts will email every person subscribed to a post's comments. Many hosts have a limit so you can reach that limit and get shut down. Here is the link to the issue.

Does Jetpack Comments Subscribe use the host to send out notifications or does it do it from WordPress.com?

Thank you for your time to read and reply.

I'm something like 99.999% sure that email is all handled by WordPress.COM servers:

The WordPress.com servers handle the messy work of sending and managing all the emails for you. Your blog is still yours, but subscriptions are handled, by us, for free, on your behalf.

Thanks Jan for replying. I'll give it a go and see what happens.

    Thanks again.
