The “Key Features” of this plugin include:

    * HTML5 based player with Flash backup
    * Works in all major browsers – IE9+, Safari, Opera, Firefox, Chrome

Wouldn’t “Flash backup” mean that this plugin should support Flash in older browsers, including IE 6-8? I’ve read through ~12 “support” pages and can’t find a definitive answer on legacy browser support.

I’ve done some testing of the plugin using a site like Browserstack.com and IETester.

Looks like the “Flash” feature does not work in ie7 (the plugin doesn’t appear at all) or ie8 (the plugin’s background image shows up along with player controls but that’s it).

Looks like I’ve got to look for another player that can fallback to even download links for older browsers.

It actually does not have a flash backup. I decided not to build that in and must have forgotten to update the readme description. Apologies for the misleading point and thank you for alerting me so I can remove it. IE prior to version 9 does not support html5 audio so this player does not work on those browsers. Only IE9+ and all the other major browsers as per the description. If you need older IEs then you may need to look for another player. Sorry.
