   I am trying to implement visitor IP on my spam protection extension.
   Will it be helpful?

   I am thinking of using GET_visitor_ip()

   Does bot has an IP?

   Yes.

   Will it be helpful?

   No.

   A combination of Cookies for Comments and Akismet is usually an effective control of spam.
